Don't Let Feminists Ruin Manliness with Their Green Initiatives!

Every day I check my Facebook newsfeed to read the latest news about the Cockroach in Belarus, the poorly aging Bear-rider in Russia, raising temperatures in [insert a country], new waves of Covid in India, and other fun 2021 stuff. And every damn post would have man-written comments about how women (not all women, only bad women aka feminists) ruin the world. The skill of making any post about evil women amazes me.

"The research from Oxford University shows that men are ashamed to purchase eco-friendly products because they find it feminine." - another article that tries to convince fragile male egos to give a damn and buy a reusable shopping bag. And what do we see in the comment section? An enraged man saying that women are evil and force men to lose their masculinity and care about stupid girly stuff (like saving the planet). Don't marry stupid bitches!

And when I enter the conversation with "oh boy, you guys can turn anything into a discussion about how manipulative and evil women are", what do I hear back? "I have NEVER seen ANY negative comments about women on this page". Yes, you guessed it right, it came from a man.

The "feminists are evil" rhetoric is so normalized across the platforms, that men do not even recognize it anymore. The other day, I got a new copywriting task from one of my clients. It was an interview with a woman that manages a team of software engineers. The interview was about her path to the STEM profession, her obstacles, achievements, and so on. Well, the suggested name for the piece was the following: "Woman leading an engineering team: dream or reality?"

I'm not saying that whoever came up with that title was a misogynist who wanted to hurt and humiliate women, he (I am certain it was a he) probably did not even recognize the derogatory message behind the phasing. Most likely, that male someone thought it sounded great, interesting, poetic, hopeful, even complimentary.

How can we change something that has been so deeply ingrained into our ways of thinking that we barely even notice it anymore?
